Lovely room and delicious food!

We had a lovely stay and were very satisfied overall, despite a small problem. We visited from October 31st to November 2nd, 2025. The food and cake at the Kur Cafe were delicious, the service was very friendly, and the breakfast buffet was good, with nothing missing. We also got a complimentary drink with dinner and another apology when we left. Before arrival, someone called to introduce themselves and remind us to arrive by 5 pm, since I'd forgotten to check my email. I thought that was great. But our room hadn't been cleaned. When we raised it, they apologized repeatedly and asked us to be patient. We went for a walk around Bad Suderode, which is well worth seeing. When we came back, we were offered an apartment in the neighboring building, with our belongings already there. The room apparently couldn't be cleaned that evening. The apartment was a little dated but clean, and the owner was very helpful. A small suggestion for the owners: it's good to trust that rooms are ready, but better to check they're clean.

We had no Wi-Fi reception in the house, which was the one downside, but we'd still gladly return. The rooms were very nice and clean, and ours even had a balcony. It's a quiet spot near the forest, with parking behind the house. Mrs. Winderlich made a very good breakfast, which set us up well for hiking and sightseeing.

The food was excellent when we visited the restaurant on December 25, 2025, but the service from Ms. Winderlich was a disaster. We had booked a table for 10 for a family Christmas, then some relatives had to cancel because they were ill. We were met with unprofessional behavior and threatened with a cancellation fee, and that threat came up three times during our visit. The idea that those tables could have gone to other guests doesn't make sense to us, since several tables were still empty later. What would have happened to the fee, Ms. Winderlich, if none of us had shown up? Would another guest have been expected to pay it? Despite the name "Kehrwieder" (Return Again), we won't be coming back.
