Hotel Pension Beck

It was okay.

The owner, Mr. Böttcher, was very friendly and kept checking that there was enough food at breakfast. We liked the good selection and found everything we wanted, and breakfast was delicious. The room and bathroom were very clean. The bathroom was small but practical and looked recently renovated, and its size was fine for us. The hotel is quiet, on the edge of town in the spa area, with free parking right out front. Waldsee Thermal Baths are a five-minute walk away, and the city centre takes about 15 minutes on foot. The room rate was reasonable and included breakfast and Wi-Fi, plus visitor’s tax. We’d gladly come back.

The location is great if you’re after wellness facilities, and the landlord made sure breakfast was plentiful, with coffee or hot water always available. There wasn’t much variety at the buffet, but there was enough. The room was extremely cramped, and the bathroom was cramped too, although the shower and half the bathroom were spacious. The bed frame was much smaller than the two mattresses pushed together, leaving one mattress partly unsupported and slanted. There were no slatted bases, just a perforated plywood board. The toilet door didn’t need a key to lock. This guesthouse is among the cheapest nearby, so I don’t want to complain about the price, but we paid over 400 euros for a bed whose frame didn’t even fit the mattresses. I was just relieved to get up the next day. I’d suggest it for a cheap one-night stay or for people who value the wellness location and don’t expect standard room comforts.

This is a somewhat older hotel at the edge of town, with free parking. The thermal baths are a three-minute walk away, and Bad Waldsee’s old town is about 15 minutes on foot. The rooms and bathrooms have been renovated, though the bathroom still has its old wooden doors. There’s a kettle, tea, and coffee in the room. Breakfast is very extensive, with bread, rolls, sausage, cheese, eggs, jam, muesli, yogurt, juice, and canned fruit salad, which you hardly see these days.
