Aparthotel Terrassenhof

We booked an apartment with a lake view, but instead looked out on ruins and construction sites. The apartment was filthy and smelled awful, as did the hallway and elevator. The duvet and pillows had yellow stains, and the bathroom tap was stuck so badly it took brute force to operate. The owner didn’t seem to care. A good chef wouldn’t serve food without tasting it. Mr. Theis, the employee, was unfriendly and incompetent, and even shouted at us in front of other hotel guests. If you want a cheap dive and can’t stand smells, this is the place for you.

We had a great week and would definitely come back, despite a few drawbacks. The apartment was a good size, very quiet, and in a fantastic location. The huge balcony was wonderful. The living area needs renovating and the kitchen is a bit dated. Taking a shower in the bathtub splashed water all over the bathroom floor, so a proper shower would have been better. There are only four parking spaces. You can park on the street right outside, but it costs €10 a day. A bike parking space next to the building is urgently needed.

This was my third stay, and I’ve felt comfortable and welcome every time, just as I did on my first visit. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. I’ll definitely return, and won’t look for anywhere else around Lake Tegernsee.

Terrassenhof was a lovely place for a holiday, with a nice location just a few meters from the lake. The apartment welcomes dogs, though it’s quite dated and could use renovation. Parking at the apartments was difficult. The breakfast staff were very friendly and accommodating, even with our toddler.
