Hotel Rex

I loved the hotel’s theme and pretty much everything about the place. Breakfast had lots of choices and was great, and parking was free. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I’d definitely stay here again.

We left feeling upset, stressed, and disrespected. The manager offered no apology or compensation after our original room was given away, and the hotel soaps he suggested as compensation felt insulting. We had booked a couple of nights near Tegernsee for €122 a night plus local taxes. On the first night, the toilet kept making noise because its flush had a problem. The hotel “manager” came to our room three times, past midnight, trying to fix it. When he couldn’t, he offered us a much worse room temporarily: it was smaller, had no balcony, a smaller bathroom without a bathtub, and half as many windows. He said we could leave our things in the first room and move back the next day. We agreed to the temporary room but took our belongings with us. The next morning, the manager said they were fixing the problem. Later that afternoon, when we were heading out for a few hours, he said our old room should be ready when we returned. That night, we were told it had been “accidentally” given to someone else. We were surprised. When we spoke to him the following morning, his tone and manner had changed distinctly. It seemed obvious to us that giving away our room hadn’t been an accident. The exchange ended with us leaving.

The hotel has a distinctive interior and a historic feel, and the staff were really helpful. Breakfast was good too.
