Moxy Essen City

The staff were very friendly, and I have no complaints. It’s close to the city center, though it isn’t one of the newest Moxy hotels. The gym is shared with the residence inn. It’s quite small, but has enough for a basic workout: dumbbells, ellipticals, treadmills and a bike. The gyms at other Moxy hotels are better.

I liked the relaxed Moxy style and the bedding made for a nice stay. But I’d make sure your payment is handled correctly. I stayed one night a week ago and used the parking lot, then noticed the next day that I’d been charged twice for parking on my credit card. That should be simple to sort out, but I emailed right away and got no response. I’ve also called on three different days at different times, and nobody answered. It’s getting frustrating. Until this is dealt with, I can’t really recommend the hotel. This is basic service that should be handled properly, and it’s a Marriott, so I do have expectations.

Good value for the price, and the location near the main station works well. The staff’s style was a bit too informal for my taste, though that’s just my personal preference. Others might like it. Nothing to complain about.

We had a fun evening playing ping pong at the bar, and I appreciated the little sitting area beside the bed. The room was ready an hour before the official check-in time, which was great. It was big enough, the bed was comfortable, and the room was refreshed during our two-night stay. Guests can also use an ironing room.
