The Palais Thermal spa was the highlight for me, and the Rossini was a great base for visiting it. The spa is huge, spread across four floors, and I could easily spend an entire evening there. It gets busy, especially at night, but never felt overcrowded; people were quiet and respectful. If you're expecting something like the Bath Spa in the UK, this is completely different, which I was glad about. I stayed at the Rossini, a small, slightly old-fashioned German three-star hotel across the town square. To reach the spa, you change in your room and walk over in your robe and spa shoes. In winter that's a strange little trek, though nobody looks twice. The hotel itself was lovely. The Palais has a historic bathing area on the lower floor, with pools at different temperatures and a bistro, but no saunas. Upstairs there are saunas, a cold plunge, and an indoor pool for swimming or relaxing at about 34c. The steam room wasn't working during my visit. The second floor has a Finnish sauna and an outdoor deck for summer. At the top, there's a rooftop pool with bubble jets at 36c, two saunas, another deck, and an outdoor bar. The deck and bar were closed because it was too cold. It took me a while to figure out what Mokni's actually includes. As far as I could tell, it's two hotels, the Badhotel and the Rossini, plus the Palais Thermal spa. The spa is inside the Badhotel, which seemed unoccupied when I visited in Jan 2026, so you walk through a huge, empty lobby to get to it. There's also the Vital Therme, accessible from the Palais, though I couldn't tell whether it's part of Mokni's. It seems more family-oriented and isn't textile-free. The Palais Thermal is textile-free throughout except on Tuesdays. I only visited the Palais, so I can't comment on the Vital Therme. The spa was brilliant, and the Rossini is a lovely place to stay for a visit. I recommend both.

The wellness facilities were the standout for me: they were relaxing, well organized, and added a lot to the stay. The food was very good too, with a consistently high standard and care in how it was prepared. From the start, the staff were friendly, attentive, and professional, which made me feel looked after. I had an excellent experience at Mokni’s Palais Hotel & Spa and would happily come back and recommend it.

The hotel room was quiet, and I could turn the heat up as much as I wanted. Breakfast was plentiful and very good, and the fitness studio was good too, with cold and hot water, tea, and espresso available before noon. The historic spa area is beautiful, and the town is easy to get around on foot even if you're not very fit. The bistro meals weren't great, though at least they weren't too expensive. Bring your own sandals, but if you forget, the hotel sells them. You probably get the best value if you really enjoy saunas. The cold was the part that spoiled an otherwise pretty good stay. I was there for two winter nights, and both the hotel and spa felt oddly chilly. I ended up getting sick afterwards, even though I'm usually very careful. The staff were sick too, and the breakfast room was so drafty I wore two pairs of thick pants. Moving between spa areas and sitting in the bistro while completely damp felt about 2-3°C too cold. Heated racks for towels and robes would've helped a lot. Staff were friendly, but seemed a little lost at times; I would've liked a bit more confident professionalism.

The spa was spotless and excellent, and we left feeling refreshed. We loved the hourly aufguss sessions, especially the ice tea and music sessions and the different scents. The Moorish room was a beautiful spot for lunch. We had pizza and flamenkuchen, both tasty and reasonably priced. A lady who spoke English translated the spa's history for us, which we were glad to learn about. We had a fantastic two-night stay, with Palais Thermal entry and a champagne breakfast included. Our newly refurbished suite had very comfortable beds and quality bedding, so we slept really well. The bathroom was spacious and indulgent, with both a bath and shower. The mini fridge was empty, but we brought our own wine. They also provided fluffy towels and robes for use during the stay.

The included breakfast buffet was fantastic, especially the fresh fruit smoothie, which you have to try. The manager was kind enough to show me how to open the room door: it looked like there was a problem, but I just needed to push it firmly without turning the knob. The owner or manager seemed to speak English well. One thing to plan for is reception's set opening hours. Let them know ahead if you'll be leaving early or late. The internet barely worked for a few hours during my two-night stay.
