Hotel Pension Petra

The owner was exceptionally friendly. This is a small, clean guesthouse near the village. The owners bought it a few years ago and renovated it with lots of white paint and some new furniture. Our bathroom still had separate hot and cold taps, though a mixer tap would have made a real difference during the renovation. There were no blackout curtains or blinds in our room, so we were guaranteed an early wake-up.

The breakfast setup worked especially well for us. Rather than a lavish buffet, they served a sufficient breakfast right at the table, which felt sustainable, and they promptly brought anything else we asked for. The breakfast room is bright and nicely furnished, with a conservatory beside it. We found the hotel quiet, with no noise issues, and it's close to the city center. There's ample parking right next to the building. This is a small, privately owned hotel-pension that smells pleasant, with an owner who's very nice and warm. The rooms are attractive and modern. The bathroom looks a bit dated, perhaps from the 1980s, but it's very clean and everything works. We can't understand the negative reviews. For this area, the value for money is more than good. We'll be back.

The hosts were friendly and easy to talk to, and the landlady served a delicious, plentiful breakfast. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and there was plenty of guest parking. Pension Petra is certainly not a first-class hotel, but we were welcomed warmly and treated kindly throughout. The location is quiet, about a 20-minute walk from Lake Zwischenahn. We were very satisfied with our stay and would gladly return.
