Landhaus Paradies

Landhaus Paradies is where I always want to stay when I’m in Baden-Baden, which has become my home away from home. I’ve traveled to Europe four times in the past five years, and while I’ve also visited plenty of places nearby, I keep basing my trips here. GO, you won’t regret it! The house sits on a very quiet street above Baden-Baden, with lovely views over town. It’s just a two-minute walk to the nearest bus stops. I also enjoy walking around the neighborhood, which feels clean and safe, with easy connections to the chic city centre shops and country walking paths. What makes the place special is Margarita. She’s incredibly kind and friendly, and she speaks English very well, so Americans should feel comfortable. When you arrive, there’s a basket of fruit, fresh pastries, and a bottle of wine on the dining table. Downstairs, she keeps wine, beer, fruit, and candies for guests to take as needed. Be generous about paying her back for anything you take, she deserves it for all the kindness she shows. The apartments are spacious, modern, and immaculately clean, with fresh linens and towels. Regular cleaning and vacuuming are provided, and there’s even laundry service. You leave items in a basket under the bathroom counter, it disappears when she cleans and turns up again later in the day. Maybe that’s special treatment for guests who return each year, though I suspect she treats everyone the same. There’s plenty of space to put away clothes, the kitchens are well equipped, and you can save a lot by shopping in town and cooking at home. I’ve stayed in three different units across four annual trips, and all of them were very good. The decor is tasteful, and look out for the “Monets” painted by her husband and hung on the walls. The landscaping is lovely, too, and Margarita keeps the outside as spotless as the inside. I’ve rented places through booking sites all over Europe. Usually, you find a place at the location and price you want, but the landlord just hands over the key, takes the money, and waits for you to leave so the next renter can come in. I still remember a week in Paris, France, when the woman renting us the apartment actually lived there. She moved out temporarily for our stay but left her cosmetics in the bathroom, clothes in the closet, and food filling the refrigerator. We didn’t feel comfortable, and never met her once. She’d hidden the key under a potted plant by her door. We had a similar experience renting in Cannes the year before. We met those owners only once. They were nice, but distant, and seemed mainly interested in getting their keys back and seeing us leave. I just can’t say enough good things about Landhaus Paradies.
