The people there are really friendly, and the hotel itself is lovely, with clean rooms. I also really like the atmosphere and everything around it. I love staying here! If you're going to Badenweiler, I'd definitely recommend it. :)

There were more than 30 dogs staying at the hotel, and everything stayed peaceful, with no barking, hassle, or unpleasant atmosphere. Even with around 7 to 10 dogs in the lounge at breakfast, you hardly noticed them. Dogs were made just as welcome as people, which was impressive. The food was amazing too: a fantastic breakfast served until 11 AM, where you could linger as long as you liked, and an incredible dinner, a real explosion of flavor. The hotel is right in the middle of downtown, making it easy to explore the village, walk the dog, or head out on excursions. It's a quiet, relaxing place. If you're after parties, keep looking. And if you're under 50, you'll bring down Badenweilier's average age ;-) I came to Badenweiler with my dog to get away from the August 1st fireworks in Switzerland. It's close to where I live, and I was also revisiting old memories, since I did internships in Badenweiler some decades ago. The reviews for Romantik Hotel zur Sonne convinced me it was the right dog-friendly place to stay, and I don't regret choosing it. I work in the hotel business myself, and it's rare these days to find hospitality that's truly lived and breathed. That was clear throughout this hotel. Staff at every level treated it like a vocation, not just a job. Really impressive.

Our weekend at the Sonne in Badenweiler was fantastic. New hosts Catinka and Tom were so friendly and ready to help with anything. We got a welcome cappuccino and homemade cookie when we arrived, and had a lovely, comfortable room with a balcony. Dinner in the restaurant, cooked by chef Tom, was divine. Everything was fresh and beautifully presented, a meal we'll remember. The breakfast buffet was delicious too, with homemade breads, yogurts, and just about everything you could imagine. They also made fresh, yummy eggs to order. We're already thinking about coming back. We just love this hotel. Thank you for such a relaxing, wonderful weekend! :))

We had one of the nicest meals I've ever tasted at the restaurant, and breakfast the next morning was just as impressive, with lots of fresh homemade food and different breads. Tom, the chef, and his wife Catinka made my friend and me feel completely at home. The thoughtful care from Tom and all the staff made dinner feel special. On arrival, we were greeted with a smile and offered coffee at check-in. Rooms 4 and 5 were spotless and had nice balconies. The hotel is totally relaxing and close to the spa. Tom and Catinka gave us towels, robes, slippers, and a bag to take to the spa. My friend also got free parking behind the hotel, which was a plus. The Zur Sonne Romantik Hotel is amazing. I believe Tom and Catinka only recently bought it, and the hotel is a credit to them. I wish them and their family all the best. We'll certainly be back. I have nothing but good things to say about my stay, and can 100 percent recommend it. I'm sure future guests won't be disappointed.

Our room was clean and had a balcony, but it was old-fashioned and wasn't the room I'd reserved. The owner didn't welcome us, and although the receptionist did, her manner still made us feel unwelcome. The staff seemed shy and nervous, and weren't very friendly, which left us feeling we weren't welcome. We weren't expecting a red carpet or servants, believe me. I don't usually share negative experiences, but this one was one. I can understand that upgrading an old house like this is a huge job. I'd suggest changing part of the team too. And owner, be glad to have customers. We're paying part of your bills!
