We had the Auerhuhn apartment, 70 sq m with two bedrooms. It's clean and fully furnished, and the new kitchen and living room are nice. The bedrooms and bathroom are okay, though they could use an update to match the rest. The owners live in the same building and are very friendly, always ready to help if there's a problem. You can use the hotel's outstanding spa, and have breakfast or dinner there. There's also a bread roll delivery service in the morning. Hiking options are excellent, and a visit to Oskar the deer is a must. Balderschwang is small, but within 30-40 km there are good destinations including Oberstdorf, Oberstaufen, Lindau and Bregenz.

We'd be happy to return. It's quiet, has great views and comfortable rooms, and you can park right outside. Lovely hikes start from the property. Dogs are welcome, and there's even a dog washing area in front of the house for when your four-legged friend gets too muddy.

Fresh rolls are available in the house daily except Sundays, and you can buy cheese and eggs around the clock. The location is very quiet, and the rooms are clean and decorated with care. There's a TV as well.

The owners were very nice, and dogs are welcome. This could work well as a place to stay for hikers who spend all day out, but we didn't find it relaxing. The road was too noisy, and we hadn't been told about the roadworks when we booked. Cleanliness also needs closer attention.

This was our fifth time in Balderschwang, but our first stay at the Bilgeri family's country house. We had a lovely apartment overlooking the mountains and the Oskar game reserve. Each day we set off hiking from the house in a different direction. It was a relaxing few days, and we'll definitely be back. Always Balderschwang!
