Gutshaus Barkow

A lovely spot for relaxing and unwinding. We went canoeing, took a quick dip in the Elde River, then continued with our original plan. It was really nice.

There was plenty for the children to do, with room to run around, table tennis and a playground. Bikes, canoes, a grill and other equipment can be rented on-site when needed. Our group of 18 stayed at the manor house in May 2024 for almost five days, and everyone was thrilled. The hosts were flexible and very accommodating. Huge thanks to Heike for preparing such a wonderful, delicious breakfast. We highly recommend this lovingly furnished manor house.

The country inn deserves a mention too. I spent seven days at Barkow manor house, from July 20th - July 27th, 2025, and would happily return. Heike brought humor and good cheer to breakfast every morning, and I have lots of praise for the whole team. Breakfast and service were top-notch, and they easily handled changes and requests. Everyone was super friendly from start to finish, and the place had everything I could wish for. If I could, I’d give you all the stars in the night sky. Best wishes from Magdeburg, Bernd.

The village itself has little apart from a restaurant. You can rent bicycles or canoes through the hotel. Drinks and ice cream are available anytime, but cost extra, as does the afternoon cake. We stayed over Easter. Our room was spacious and clean, nothing special but quite adequate. The mattresses were far too hard for my taste, though that's personal preference. My son's extra bed squeaked a lot, but we managed for the four nights. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful, they kept replenishing anything that ran out and accommodated special requests. This works well if you want simple accommodation and a chance to relax. For luxury or action, you won't find it here.
