The hosts were friendly, and we had a covered balcony. The place was clean and modern, with a new bathroom and shower. The kitchen had all the essentials. Really lovely apartment.

The newly renovated bathroom was excellent, and the landlords were friendly and helpful. It had a real farmhouse feel, which the kids enjoyed too. We used it as a base for all kinds of outings and had a great vacation. We’d happily return.

The apartment itself is nice and has nearly everything you need, but the cleaning was poor. Cobwebs were all over, and it seemed like nobody had cleaned beneath the beds for months. From the balcony you look out at cowsheds and a manure spreader, with the smell that comes with them. We didn’t enjoy eating out there. There was noise every day, so reading quietly on the balcony was almost impossible. Sometimes dozens of children and adults were running around the garden, sometimes stones were being cut right in front of the balcony, and sometimes the workshop below the apartment was noisy. We never had a quiet day. The garden didn’t feel very welcoming for relaxing either. The daughter-in-law put towels on both loungers to reserve them, even when nobody else was outside. The pool was hard to use: their three children and friends occupied it all day, and its badly fitted ladder leaves a gap of about 60-70 cm from the pool edge to the first step. That makes it unusable for older people or anyone with limited mobility. The spiral stairs down to the garden are also very steep and narrow, difficult for older people and even small children. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sr. were very nice hosts, but that couldn’t make up for the daughter-in-law’s unfriendly manner, which kept making us feel unwelcome. The guest barbecue only arrived the day before we left. If these things don’t bother you, you might still have a nice vacation. We won’t be back.

Everything you’d want at home was there, and we had very nice hosts. It’s a lovely holiday apartment. Thanks so much, we’d gladly come back. Best wishes to the Upper Palatinate.
