Hotel Niedersächsischer Hof

The natural surroundings are beautiful, with good paths for walking and cycling. The furniture has a retro feel, though some of it is getting old, and the beds and mattresses could be much better. The restaurant menu is fairly simple but expensive, and you need a reservation even as a hotel guest. It closes at 8:30 pm. There’s a sense of the past here, though not in a good way. The mineral baths are about 6 km away, and there aren’t any easily accessible restaurants nearby.

I only stopped for refreshments, so I can’t comment on the rooms. You’re practically in a forest, which makes for a great location. I was told the nearby shooting club can be noisy when it’s in use, on Wednesdays. Otherwise, walk in the forest, have a drink, and carry on.

We had a very pleasant evening here with customers from my company. The old Fachwerkhaus building and restaurant are classy and beautifully appointed. The staff were friendly, capable and attentive, keeping up a discreet, high level of service all evening. The food was excellent too. We each chose something different from the menu, which isn’t huge but had something for everyone. I’m sure we’ll come back soon. A 10 from me.

The hotel is right by a forest, so it’s a great base for hiking or cycling and getting away from city bustle and stress. Our stay was wonderful from arrival to departure. Hubertus gave us a warm welcome and made sure we had everything we needed. The rooms are spacious and furnished in keeping with the hotel’s style. The cleanliness throughout, from the bathrooms to the rooms and the rest of the hotel, says a lot about the service. The food was delicious and presented to a fine dining standard. I’d definitely return to Niedersächsischer Hof. It was a lovely experience, and I’d happily do it again!
