At 19:00 the reception was empty, and we waited 25 minutes for a room key while the receptionist was busy with the hotel bar during the football match. Then he told us the hotel parking was overbooked, said we should park “somewhere around,” and walked off. That was no help, since only people who live in Bautzen can park near the hotel. We had to drive 0,5 km away to find a spot. The room was tiny, poorly insulated, and made of cheap chipboard. The radiators were locked and couldn't be set above 3/5. With the low sloping ceilings, we both bumped our heads more than once, though neither of us is taller than 1.80. The space was very uncomfortable and offered little rest. This was a disappointing fit for a 4 star hotel in a tourist destination. If direction can't staff both the reception and bar, they should put the reception first, since guests may badly need a rest.

We had a lovely big room with high ceilings and a nice, roomy ensuite. The buffet breakfast was excellent, and the staff were very helpful. It’s a wonderful place right on the square. We’ll be back.

Too expensive, and the parking was a problem. There’s no air conditioning in the rooms, so in summer you have to open the windows and put up with street noise and the church BELL every hour all night. A real drama. Never again!

The rooms were comfortable, the staff friendly, and breakfast buffet was great. The hotel is very handy for the city center, right beside City Hall and the amazing old town. The one real downside was the extremely unreliable Wi-Fi, which was mostly useless.

Mike at the front desk was especially helpful, and the staff were friendly. The rooms are big and cozy, with great restaurants nearby. It’s also close to the railway station.
