Haus am Wald

The forest-edge setting was lovely, with an incredible amount of peace and quiet. The stay itself was much less pleasant: the bathroom and towels weren’t clean, and there was a really unpleasant smell. The owner, a warm-hearted older woman, and her dog, Prinz, were very friendly, but she seemed overwhelmed by such a large property, which showed in its condition and cleanliness. We also ended up paying more than the price first quoted, as the rates seemed to vary.

The garden was colorful, tidy, and so inviting, and our room was comfortably furnished. Breakfast was generous and excellent. We felt right at home in Bayerisch Eisenstein. Many thanks to Mrs. Kreuzer and Mr. Prinz for such a lovely stay.

The rooms are on the small side, though perfectly adequate for a night's sleep, and the pension has stylish furnishings. It’s in a good location and has cats and a dog; bringing a pet is no problem. The elderly owner seems to have had some work done, which is a little noticeable. If you don’t expect much in the way of services or amenities, it’s an acceptable place to stay.

We’d confirmed arrival for 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, but ended up waiting two and a half hours with nobody available by landline or cell phone. We’d already paid through booking.com, and got no replies to our messages there either. Definitely wouldn’t recommend it.
