The location worked well for us, a little outside the town centre, with a supermarket and bakery across the street. Parking at the hotel was good value, and the room was spacious and clean overall. At first glance, the studio looked nice, but there were a few cleanliness and maintenance issues: little white chips on the shower and toilet floors, cutlery that wasn’t spotless, and banana peel left in the kitchen by a previous guest. A cutting board would help, since the counter looked as if people were cutting food directly on it, which didn’t seem hygienic. The price was good. I’d stay for a night or two again, but not longer, as there’s no hotel breakfast or restaurant. And about the tip envelope, if guests are left to arrange their own cab and there’s no routine cleaning during the stay, asking so openly for tips feels out of place. If you skip basic hotel services, don’t blatantly ask for money.

The staff made a last-minute arrival feel easy. I was tired from driving around Europe, and the woman we met was so friendly and gave us useful tips about the opera houses and town. Since our four-month-old daughter was tired, they gave us a room without neighbours so we wouldn’t disturb anyone, and they also had a baby bed for us. The room was clean and massive, with a kitchenette, and the parking lot was easy to navigate. I can’t say enough about how kind the staff were. Separate gripe that has nothing to do with the hotel: liefarando is really slow and honestly trash in any city.

I’ve stayed here a couple of times, and the hotel is quite adequate, but cleanliness is a problem. The room has several notices saying it will only be cleaned if the guest actively requests it, supposedly for environmental reasons. I’m happy to support environmental efforts, but it’s hard not to see this as a way for the hotel to cut major costs. I find it objectionable when a company asks customers to help save it money under an environmental banner. I paid 87 EUR per night, including cleaning fees. If the company cares so much about the environment, I’m sure it could refund those fees. And making the bed, for example, has nothing to do with the environment, in my view. It’s about saving costs.

The rooms are awesome, with a full kitchen and everything you need, and the shower is amazing. There’s also free wifi and a great rooftop patio. The university is only a five-minute walk away, with a grocery store and drug store right down the street. It’s on a bus route too. Downtown is about a 20-minute walk, but it’s easy, just straight down one street. I’d highly recommend staying here.
