We only meant to stop for a drink after a short walk, but stayed much longer than planned. The staff were welcoming, the drinks came quickly, and the prices were very reasonable. Inside, it’s beautifully decorated and has a traditional feel. We’d liked the old-fashioned look from outside too.

It was hard to leave after our six-night stay. Breakfast and dinner both had a great range of food, and the staff made us feel at home from the start. They even had freshly baked gluten-free bread and muffins ready on my breakfast table each morning, as I’d asked. We had an amazing time, thank you! 😊

We enjoyed the varied evening menu, which was reasonably priced, and the food was good. Breakfast had plenty of lovely fresh choices at the buffet. Our room and bathroom were large and clean. A couple of interactions with staff felt a bit stern: we were told we couldn’t eat outside because our assigned table was indoors, even though there was lots of room, and someone asked what time we’d return from our hike. Maybe something got lost in translation. It’s a large hotel in a fairly small town.

The food was a little better than the average local Bavarian meal. We went for dinner with friends, but the service was poor. The waiter was very transactional and walked away partway through taking our round’s order, leaving half the table unable to order. It happened several times. Also, the whole place smelled of fatty drippings, and our clothes smelled the same after we’d spent some time there.
