The hotel gets quite warm in summer, and there's no air conditioning, which was a shame. Apart from that, it was clean, the food was good, and the staff were friendly in a German sort of way. The setting is lovely, with a Rhine view and the palace and park close enough to walk to.

Service was a real weak spot, especially in the restaurant, and the Wi-Fi kept letting me down, which made working there difficult. The rooms were just average, nothing special but not awful. On the plus side, the location and beer garden are great, and the restaurant food is pretty decent.

The building itself feels poorly made, and the rooms heat up fast in summer. There’s no AC, only fans, so nights can be roasting. The restaurant looks inviting, but the food is very ordinary, not cheap, and has no good choices for kids. The staff are friendly, and the setting is lovely, right by the Rhine and at the edge of beautiful Benrath Schlosspark.

My parents-in-law have stayed at the hotel twice and had only good things to say about the rooms, but this is about the bier garten. The Rhine view is spectacular on a nice summer day, and it’s a pleasant spot for a beer with a small dish, salad, or sandwich. I’ve eaten here a few times: the food is tasty and pretty standard, though portions can feel small for the price. You’re paying extra for the location too. It’s not somewhere for a big lunch or a gourmet meal. The staff are friendly and try to make you comfortable, especially the Italian waiter Lorenzo. It’s good with kids as well. Our two-year-old comes along sometimes and enjoys it.
