Hotel Villa im Park

The garden view from the balcony was lovely, though the grey, wet weather kept me from sitting outside. It’s a peaceful residential spot, and the staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast is simple, with cold cuts, bread rolls, and eggs cooked fresh, very much the usual German style.

They made my late arrival easy by leaving a key in a secure box after reception closed. The rooms were clean and spacious, breakfast was great, and the price was good. There’s free street parking, and it’s a handy base for Düsseldorf airport or events at the Essen Messa. I’d happily recommend it to travelers in this part of Germany.

The bed was comfortable and I slept well. The hotel is handy for the messe and airport, and plane spotting is good from here. Breakfast was pretty basic and not really for me, with tea I didn’t care for and a first-come, first-served setup. Wi-Fi was the big letdown, it stopped working, and some rooms seem to have trouble with it. I arrived to a cold room, but by the second morning I didn’t mind anymore.

My room had a spacious outdoor sitting area, and the staff were lovely. The hotel is close enough to reach both the airport and the city centre easily.
