Romantik Waldhotel Mangold

I paid a corporate rate, and at that price it was worth it. The regular rate I saw for my stay would be far too much. I think this place is really good if you can get it for €100 a night. It was a strange experience: the hotel was almost empty, and the restaurant was closed for lack of guests. At check-in, the owner said the restaurant was upstairs, but when I came down for dinner I found it closed. The room was large and beautiful, with a newly renovated, first-class bathroom. It's good for a business trip, though not romantic apart from the location. Breakfast was amazing.

There was no heating at all, despite the 6°C nighttime temperature. I had three colleagues staying there too, and none of them had heat either. I know some hotels are keeping rooms at 18-20°C during the gas crisis without letting guests turn it up, and that's understandable, but no heating with 6°C outside is absolutely unacceptable. I was put up here for a work trip, and the stay was below what I'd expect from a 4-star hotel. The bathroom window had no shutter or curtain. Soap and cream came in small plastic bottles, so dispensers would be kinder to the environment. At breakfast, just one woman was serving guests. She was making eggs for one table while my colleagues and I were in a hurry. One colleague couldn't even find hot water for tea and had to wait for her to come out of the kitchen so we could ask. Just a bad stay.

The location was beautiful, the breakfast was great, and the staff were very accommodating. I had a great stay.

I'd highly recommend the restaurant.
