Felt like heaven.

The biggest downside was the Wi-Fi, which got extremely slow in the evenings. Apart from that, this is a lovely little guesthouse beside an educational farm and riding stable, and guests can visit the farm next door. The rooms are a good size and very clean. Breakfast is modest but enough, and there are different games in the common room.

It’s peaceful because the complex is a little secluded, and we were glad to find the Alm restaurant almost right across the street, since there aren’t many dinner options nearby. The whole renovated courtyard, with its several buildings, looks great. We stayed in the hostel room, which took a bit of searching to find. The bathroom was modern and spacious, though our room was small. We’d chosen badly and ended up in a tiny room with bunk beds. For €100 a night, we expected more than a modern youth hostel. There was nobody on site at all, including at breakfast. The walls are very thin, and we could hear every sound from the children in other rooms. Some details already needed attention despite the renovation, like a broken shower-door seal. There was no fridge or hairdryer either. Breakfast was sparse, with a limited number of bread rolls; the coffee was okay, but the buffet selection was meager.

The room was clean, but that’s about the only good thing I can say. The parking was awful, and the night was anything but restful. The rooms may be nicely furnished, but you can hear every word through the walls. Our neighbor snored all night, and people were loud in the hallway and slamming doors by 5 a.m. Nobody seemed considerate. There was only single-ply toilet paper, and the towel for stepping onto after a shower had been left on the toilet. We were very dissatisfied and won’t come back.
