a&o Berlin Kolumbus

It was quiet and peaceful during my three days at A&O Kolumbus. The hostel was nearly empty, probably because it was the off-season, and only 2-3 beds in my room were occupied. I was on the 8th floor and really liked the view over the surrounding area. Rooms and restrooms were clean and well maintained, and the facilities were up to the mark. The location suits travelers who want to explore Berlin while staying a little away from the busy center. My main annoyance was the lack of charging plugs by the beds. You have to charge devices near the couch or common sockets, which is inconvenient. I’ve noticed the same thing at other A&O hostels, including Friedrichshain and Mitte, which I found strange. Otherwise, it was a comfortable, calm stay.

Used, dirty trash from previous guests was left in my bed. The place was incredibly messy and dirty, and the hotel boy didn’t seem to care or help us. He said there were no cleaning products. Horrible. I’m disappointed and disgusted, and feel traumatized. I wish I could leave as soon as possible. I want my money and dignity back.

The beds were good and so was breakfast. The hotel was clean, and the employees worked hard. Only issue was that the hallway leading to the shower had no light.

I couldn’t sleep because I heard quiet beats and music for so long, as if it was coming from the next floor. It was annoying for guests trying to rest. The service was awful too. When we asked questions, staff ignored us and carried on with their work. They also didn’t clean the dirty spots we pointed out. The room itself had a big crack in my bed. We reported it and showed it to the register, but they brushed it off. The lights by the beds didn’t work either. The rooms were VERY dirty, especially the bathroom. There were blue stains on the heater, the ceiling lights were filthy, the shower made my skin crawl, the water pressure was low, and there were no bins in the bathroom. I don’t recommend this hotel in Berlin.
