Aparthotel Christie

I liked that the rooms are in a separate building from reception, so you can come and go as you please. For a one-night stay, I enjoyed the great location, fast Wi-Fi, and spacious, very clean room. The tiny bathroom was also perfectly adequate and spotless. The downside was that the pillow and blanket had no covers. Reception had already closed by the time I noticed, so I couldn’t tell anyone. Luckily, I had a pillow in my luggage. The staff apologized the next day.

Getting to Tegel Airport was simple: there are two easy bus rides, with the first stop right outside the hotel. It’s also a great spot for public transit, and even in intense heat I could walk to the Zoo and Kurfürstendamm. The room and bathroom were pleasant, and the buffet breakfast was good, if a bit repetitive. After three weeks of travel, I really appreciated being able to do laundry for free.

You get a budget hotel for a budget price, so don’t expect much. My small, clairaudient room was clean and had the essentials. The location is great, near the old center of West Berlin, in an urban area that’s becoming more multicultural with lots of different cuisines. Sadly, the "Metropol"/"Goya" across the street has shut for good. The beds aren’t suitable for anyone over 1.80m, and the TV picture might flicker.

Breakfast was excellent, and there’s plenty nearby, including buses, the U bahn, and shops. It’s still quiet at night, and the heating worked really well, which matters a lot to me during a Berlin winter. The bathroom is very small. I’d stay again.
