ArtHotel Connection

This was my first trip to Europe, part of a celebratory holiday, and I’d wanted to stay at this hotel so badly. I’m devastated that I never got through to anyone after nearly a month of trying. I live overseas in SE Asia and can’t make international calls through my provider, so I tried all the other ways I could think of: two contact forms, four emails, Facebook messages, five Instagram DMs, and comments on posts on both Facebook and Instagram asking for a reply. I got absolutely nothing on any platform. I waited almost a month before writing this to give them plenty of time, and I’ve exhausted every way I could contact them. Photos attached to clarify my review. I’m so disappointed and very sad that for some reason they just will not communicate with customers.

The breakfast is excellent, and there’s a good range of room sizes. It’s a great place to retreat to, and the staff and owner make every visit a pleasure. Nothing is too much trouble for them. I’ve been staying here whenever I visit Berlin since 2012, and it feels like a home from home.

On Tuesday we joined the hotel’s “queer tours for all,” which is meant to be open to anyone who loves queer people. Mal was our guide and put together an experience we won’t forget. As a group, we picked one of the three tours on offer, then spent about two hours hanging out with some locals who’d joined too. Mal shared loads of ideas for things to do and places to eat or hang out. The interior is beautiful and the staff are wonderful. The only downside was not having time to do all three tours! We highly recommend staying here and joining Mal’s Tuesday tour.

Mal leads the hotel’s queer Kiez tour every week, and it was absolutely amazing. Whether you already know Berlin or it’s your first visit, you’re sure to learn something, probably quite a lot. It was beautiful hearing how closely Berlin and its queer history are connected. I’d recommend the tour to anyone. If you skip it, you’ll miss out, I swear!
