We found this apartment online for Easter 2012. Compared with other places, it wasn't more expensive, and it was much nicer. It's stylish and clean, with two large TVs. One detail to know: there aren't three bedrooms. There are two, one with a double bed and one with two double beds, plus a living room. We asked for the free parking advertised on the website and got a spot at no charge, safely inside the courtyard. The nearest subway is under a two-minute walk away, and from there it's two stops straight to Alexanderplatz, where nearly all the lines meet. Hackesche Höfe and its charming little shops are also close. At Rosentaler Platz near the station, there are lots of affordable food options, including takeout, Turkish, Italian, and Asian food. The noodles were especially tasty. Someone was always around to help, and Mr. Gutman would call us back whenever needed. We'd happily come again.

We never got to stay in the apartment because of supposed water damage, and they still owe me a refund. They don't return calls or answer emails. When I finally reached Mr. Gutmann, he gave me a flimsy excuse. I'm very disappointed, would tell people to avoid this apartment, and doubt I'll ever see my money again.

The place was dirty and so loud it was unbearable. A mobile task force showed up at the door at 4 a.m., and the whole situation felt pretty shady. There aren't any hotel staff in the building, just a Russian parking attendant.
