The schnitzel was a little dry, and the toilet setup felt off-putting: a woman sat at a table in the restroom expecting payment to use it, even though we were already paying restaurant customers. It made the place seem desperate to grab extra money. We came as a big group with a reservation for beer and traditional German food. The portions were huge, so we ordered way too much, and the beer list was endless. We also discovered banana beer, which I’d recommend if you like sweet beer.

We had a lovely time. The place is cozy and wonderful, prices are good, and the staff are friendly. Service was excellent.

We’ve been here several times over the past few years, and the service has often felt unfriendly. Once, they wanted us to order bread and beer before we could even place our order for several dishes. Another visit for the Christmas menu left us with stomach aches. Today wasn’t great either. I asked for alcohol-free beer and was told we had to sit down for it, but apparently only the usual big-brand beers were available. The beers the others ordered were okay, but our waiter was unfriendly. Also, keep an eye out for a guy walking around taking photos and trying to sell key picture chains.

The vending machines were something different and pretty funny. The beer was delicious, and the food was very German, tasty, and served in big portions. They were patient with me even though I don’t speak German and the waitress didn’t speak English. She was adorable.
