Kubrat an der Spree

The one real plus was being able to stroll around old Köpenick. The rooms and the rest of the hotel were clean at a glance, but everything felt worn, old, or damaged and badly in need of a makeover. The bathroom was completely outdated and looked like a butcher's shop. The mattress was old and uncomfortable, and the place didn't feel cozy or welcoming. I slept terribly, woken repeatedly by loud noises somewhere in the building, even though I normally sleep deeply. Breakfast was the worst I've had at a hotel. There was little choice and nothing got replenished. Just filter coffee, stale buns that tasted and felt a few days old, dry old cucumbers, and meat salad that didn't look fresh. There wasn't much to put in the buns, either. No scrambled eggs, only a tiny handful of hard-boiled ones, which I didn't try. The food didn't look trustworthy, so I managed one bun with lots of jam to make it edible, plus a glass of juice. I wouldn't recommend this hotel and won't return. There are better places nearby. My employer's price rules left me little choice this time because an event had pushed prices way up. Even within my budget, though, this place was poor value.
