The hotel is next to a pretty lake, where you can sit and gaze out while having a meal. The rooms are excellent quality, with comfortable beds and nice French doors that let in plenty of light. Staff are excellent too, friendly and helpful. The spa and gym are very good quality and open daily from 7am-10pm. Aufguss is hourly, and Avon staff in there are all wonderful. Highly recommended for a friendly, comfortable luxury stay.

The pools and saunas were clean and well cared for, and I especially liked the igloo room and the sauna seance in the finnish sauna. Breakfast had plenty of fresh choices, including loose leaf teas, juices, and fruit. The reception team were welcoming and quick, and the bar next to the spa had a lovely gentleman from Bangladesh who made our evening better. On the days our room was cleaned, the work was thorough. Getting around was easy: there’s a bus stop nearby, the train station is 10 minutes away, and the city center is another 30 minutes from there. We stayed 5 nights and had a good time, though there were some real shortcomings. Breakfast staff were sometimes rude, tables stayed uncleared and people had to wait to sit. Our room was missed once, and the spa reception weren’t particularly nice when we asked for towels. Some plates, cutlery, and teapots were dirty or not washed at all. On our last day the breakfast team had changed, and they were all great. The sauna rules also caught us off guard. All but the rooftop sauna are nude, and I wish that had been made clear at booking. We know nudity in saunas is normal in Germany, but it was an unpleasant surprise for us, and a hotel should account for guests who aren’t local. Our room had scratched, slightly dirty walls, mold on the bathroom tiles, and signs of a leak on the ceiling. It was too cold for me, especially with the windows left open after cleaning at the end of October. Parking was convenient and there were spaces, but €21 a night on top of the room cost feels criminal. I don’t see why it isn’t included. I don’t like Spandau, but despite the flaws we enjoyed the stay. It’s not perfect or luxurious. If those problems don’t put you off, I can wholeheartedly recommend it. :)

The hotel staff were kind, lovely, and helpful. But the wellness area staff were really rude and unpleasant. That experience alone means we won’t be coming back.

The reception staff were friendly and helpful, and we didn’t have breakfast. What was disappointing was finding out that renovation work and a pool closure were planned, with no notice when we booked. Guests shouldn’t have to keep checking social media or the website for updates like that. The hotel should have told us directly.
