Happy Hotel Berlin

A cheap option with little comfort, but it covers nearly all the basics. The room had no special equipment; the beds were absolutely fine, and both the room and our private bathroom were clean enough. The subway is very close, as are a supermarket, a couple of restaurants, and a bar. We could also leave our luggage there safely for free before check-in, and that service was okay.

The location is great, close to two metros and some nice bakeries, and the price is fair for what you get. They provided linens, but the pillows and mattress felt used and could do with replacing. The bunks also squeak at night. If your roommate gets up during the night, it can make for a rough sleep.

The receptionist was really nice and helpful, and the room was clean and functional. Mine had the basics: a small single bed, soap, toilet paper, and a towel, with a private bathroom. It’s fine for a quick night, but it gets noisy. The door needs to be slammed shut, and people talk loudly in the corridors late at night. This works best if you’re comfortable using Berlin public transport or plan to stay around the hotel. Getting to the tourist area takes two changes, and the trip is about 20-25 minutes if you know how the system works. The bathroom is tiny, but it does the job.

For the price, it was amazing. My friends and I had the room to ourselves and slept just like at home. There was a dining room and a kitchen, and the staff were so kind. For what’s more like a hostel, it had things you wouldn’t even find in pricier hotels. Couldn’t give it fewer than five stars 💫
