The elevator roared day and night, and the few bits of furniture were hanging crookedly on their hinges. The windows looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in at least six months. It felt as if someone had rushed to turn an apartment building from the early 1970s into a goldmine. Stay away! The apartment was filthy, with worn, grimy and ugly furniture and ripped chair cushions. The kitchen was disgusting: plates and cups still had dirt from previous guests, and the spatula was covered in food scraps. If you want to ruin your visit to Berlin, start here.
