We come back two or three times every year because this is such a comfortable, friendly place. The staff are exceptional, and you really should try the amazing breakfast. It's a hidden gem, though I almost hesitate to tell people since it's already full so often. Still, it's so good that I feel I have to share it.

The hotel's in a gorgeous, leafy suburb of Berlin, and the air felt incredibly fresh. You can hear the S Bahn a little, but the trains stopped around 1 am. It takes about 30 minutes to get to the city center. We arrived very late because our flight was delayed, but getting in was simple: we entered a code in a box outside and collected the key. Our room was lovely, with a large double bed, an ensuite bathroom, a minibar, snacks, and a complimentary bottle of sparkling water. The bed was on the firm side but comfortable. We could have used a couple more pillows, though I'm sure the staff would have brought some if we'd asked. Breakfast was lovely, with boiled eggs, cold meats, cereal, juice, rye bread, croissants, and more. The staff were friendly and helpful. We hope to come back.

Schlachtensee is a lovely nearby place to relax, and it's only a short walk from the hotel. We stayed at Hotel Landhaus Schlachtensee for 8 nights while visiting family in Berlin, and the location was handy for walking to Mexicoplatz S-Bahn on line S1. The rooms were spacious and felt like a home away from home. I slept better here than I have at any other hotel. The staff were genuinely warm, welcoming, and very helpful. We ate breakfast there every morning, and they took good care of the lactose-intolerant and gluten-intolerant guests as well as the omnivore, with a great selection to suit each of us. We're sure to return.

The rooms were just the right size, and the whole place was extremely clean. It's a lovely hotel in a lovely part of Berlin. Breakfast was great value, and really, everything was wonderful. I'd definitely recommend it.

I liked the other guests, who were mostly German. They were friendly and polite, often happy to chat over breakfast, and gracious about my poor attempts to dredge up schoolboy German from 45 years ago. Most spoke enough English for a conversation. At a time when the UK is seeking divorce from Europe, it was reassuring to get on so well with such nice people. For food, La Gondola across Mexicoplatz is the most convenient restaurant, with nice food and time to enjoy a few drinks after your meal. Banhof Klause under the S-Bahn station is a good spot for a drink before bed. For more choice, I'd eat somewhere along the way back from a day out. Plenty of pubs away from the main drags serve reasonably priced food, and there are nice places around the main platz's. After dithering for ages about where to stay, I gambled on an upmarket suburb toward Wansee & Potsdam instead of the city center. The area is attractive, quiet, and residential. I enjoy architecture, so walking nearby and admiring the mix of old and more modern styles was a real pleasure. You can walk to Mexicoplatz S-Bahn in 5 minutes or Krumme Lanke U-Bahn in 10 - 15. The city center is about 30 minutes away. This family-run hotel is a good fit for people who want a quiet place to sleep. The accommodation is very good, but the best part is being treated like a person instead of just another tourist. The staff went out of their way to chat and offer advice, something you may not find at most city center hotels. I speak German like a 3 year old, so I was impressed by how well everyone spoke English.
