Hotel Residenz Begaswinkel

It's tucked along a pleasant cul-de-sac but still within walking distance of several good restaurants, with public transit easy to reach. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the place was clean and comfortable. A great experience overall, and reasonably priced.

The staff were especially helpful, and everything else was very nice too. Our room was comfortable and breakfast was really okay. The main issue for anyone travelling with a baby or very small child is that there's no elevator, and apparently no ramp either.

The neighbourhood was the main drawback for me. I felt uneasy walking around after dark because of some safety concerns, and the area didn't have the charm or sense of safety I'd expect from a hotel of this standard. The hotel can't control its surroundings, of course. Inside, though, Hotel Residenz Beganwinkel is charming and well kept, with a welcoming lobby and friendly, attentive staff. The rooms were clean, spacious and tastefully decorated, and the on-site restaurant and other amenities added to a comfortable stay. Rates are reasonable, and public transportation is conveniently close, so it could work for budget travellers who can overlook the neighbourhood. If a quiet, upscale area is a priority, I'd look elsewhere.

A lovely hotel with a good breakfast, close to the U bahn.
