Hotel Spreewitz Am Kurfa Rstendamm

The rooms were very clean when I stayed last year, and the staff were professional. The location is perfect. I’m hoping to stay here again soon. Highly recommended.

I don’t know hotels very well, just as a disclaimer, and I had a dog with me, so I didn’t have much choice. Check-in and checkout were easy. There was only one room key, and since my friend arrived early, we left it at the counter. Picking it up was no problem. You have to take the lift, but it stops between floors, so there’s still a flight of stairs to climb. Dirty laundry was always sitting next to the lift. The room was decent: the floor and beds were clean, and the old bathroom was okay, but the lamp was dirty. The window was old-fashioned too. It all felt pretty middling. I wouldn’t stay again if I had a better option.

The staff seem to do their best to keep the place running, despite it being in a very old building with limited ways to improve the stay. Still, this is a bare-bones budget hotel, a little expensive for what you get. It might suit students or solo travelers, but definitely not couples or families. Rooms are small, morning coffee is basic, and there’s no sound privacy at all. If someone three rooms away turns the TV up a bit, you can hear the show from your room. Breakfast is also just the minimum, with few choices.

The location was the one real plus, with shops, restaurants, cafes, and the train station close by. Otherwise, it’s a very budget hotel, so don’t expect much. My room felt small and dated from the start. During hot weather there was no air conditioning or fan. The TV was tiny, and I couldn’t get English subtitles, though the screen was so small I wouldn’t have been able to read them anyway. The bathroom and shower were cramped, with no ventilation. I had to stand at an angle to wash my hair and get my arms up. The bed was comfortable, but it was two singles pushed together with nothing to stop them separating. Housekeeping was good: fresh towels each day, the bed kind of made, and toilet rolls topped up. There wasn’t even a kettle for a cup of tea. I’d only recommend it to a solo traveler who just needs a place to sleep and shower. If you can stretch your budget, find somewhere more comfortable and make the trip more enjoyable.
