Living In The Box

My friend and I stayed here recently, and after they posted a bad review, the owner replied with outright lies. We complained about bed bugs and showed the owner one when we did. She agreed it was a bed bug, and I’ll attach a photo. Yet in her response she claimed a professional inspected the place and found none. She also said we brought the bugs in, which isn’t true. We saw them as soon as we arrived. This place is awful and they lie. Don’t stay here. It should be shut down.

We ran out in the middle of the night and couldn’t even stay one of the five nights we’d booked. There was a bedbug crawling beside my face, and I have a photo. The rooms were extremely dirty, like they hadn’t been cleaned in ages, and the sheets smelled of sweat. They clearly hadn’t been changed between guests. It was so unhygienic. We asked for our money back the next day, but the owner wouldn’t refund us. There isn’t a live reception, just someone on the phone who doesn’t understand English. It felt like they took our money and didn’t provide what was promised. Please don’t go there. You could get sick and still have to pay for it.

For a night or two, it’s alright for the price, and it’s near a station. But I had a hard time finding the hostel, and there’s no reception or anyone to talk to. The bedrooms are on a different floor from the toilet and shower, there’s no shampoo or body wash, and the towels are small. The rooms and hallway don’t get fresh air, and the toilet smells, even though it is clean.

It was quiet and pretty much what I expected, and I had a good weekend here. The owner was nice, and the price seemed fair for the area. Everything was reasonably clean, and I didn’t see bedbugs or anything like some comments mentioned. You get two small towels per person, and the key has to be picked up from the restaurant next door. For an affordable stay, it worked well for me. I’d happily stay here again next time I’m in Berlin.
