Majestic

The room was larger and cleaner than I expected, and the staff were very nice. The location is convenient, easy to find, and right by a subway station near Chalottenburg. With an eBay coupon, the price was especially good, so it felt like strong value. The windows are old and only open or close, with no in-between setting. It was very hot while we were there, so we had to sleep with them open. Also, the washroom floor was very slippery, and my son fell and hit his head.

The staff were great, very friendly, and happy to bring extra linen or help with directions. The neighborhood is quiet and the hotel is southwest of berlin, close to a subway entrance. The building and furniture are old and worn. The fridge makes noise, a closet handle came off when I opened it, the pillows aren't fluffy, and the towels feel like sandpaper. The worst problem is the shower: there's no door or curtain around the tub, so water sprays onto the bathroom floor. After a ten-minute shower, there was a big puddle, and I used four towels to clean it up so my roommates wouldn't have to walk through it.

There's good Wi-Fi and the breakfast is good, too. The staff were friendly and very helpful, and public transport is easy to get to from here. Traffic outside is the one real downside. If you book, try for a room at the back. In warm weather, leaving the window open can get pretty loud.

A good stay for a cheap place. The bathroom was pretty nice, though it oddly had no shower curtain. Reception was pleasant and the Wi-Fi was good enough. It had what I wanted.
