martas Gästehäuser Hauptbahnhof Berlin - Hostel

We stayed three days with the family. It’s a clean place to sleep in an excellent location, with a private bathroom and separate toilet. Not luxurious, but good value, and I couldn’t ask for more.

There were 26 of us from Glasgow, Scotland, and we had a wonderful stay. The young ones especially enjoyed it, and the food was great. The rooms were clean, and Monica and Astrid were there whenever we needed anything. Thank you all so much ❤️

The location is excellent, only a short walk from Berlin Central Station. Martas staff were friendly and helpful, and there’s a nice seating area, plus a fridge and coffee machine at reception. Service and location were great, but the rooms and facilities badly need an upgrade. The rooms are dated, with worn fixtures and broken door locks. It was uncomfortably hot, with no fan or air conditioning. The sink drained very slowly. The layout was awkward too: shelves right behind the bed meant we kept hitting our heads, and the triangular stairs to the upper bed were hard to use. There was no gap at the top, so getting up or down was difficult, and I had to jump down. One morning the fire alarm sounded as a test without any warning, which caused panic because we thought there was a real fire. There was no TV or fridge in the room either.

I’m happy I chose this hostel. It’s a very good option for solo travelers, with a clean room and all the amenities I needed. The reception staff were helpful and handled my last-minute requests. There’s free storage before check-in and after check-out, plus a fully equipped kitchen for cooking your own meals. Berlin Central Station is a 10-minute walk away.
