We had great views from our cozy room on a higher floor, and the rooms were brilliant. The 24-hour front desk service was upstanding, and the staff were brilliant. The location is spot on. Make time for the rooftop terrace even in winter, the views are incredible!

The rooftop is beautiful, a nice spot to lounge and get out of the room, and breakfast was good and well balanced. Rooms are clean and very quiet on the courtyard side, though they're quite small. The best thing about Monbijou Hotel is the location. If you like walking, it's a great starting point for seeing the sights.

Oscar at reception gave us one of the warmest welcomes we've had at any hotel. We arrived around 10.30pm, and after we'd left our bags in the room, he came over with tips on where to eat and where to avoid. He greeted us like old friends every time we saw him. The barman was just as helpful. We came in shortly before closing after a full day on foot, and he shared two excellent suggestions: the Stolpersteine and a route to follow the line of the wall through the city. Both became two of our favorite things we saw and did. We loved spending nearly all our time in former East Berlin. Its history was fascinating and thought-provoking, and there was beautiful architecture everywhere. Montbijou hotel was ideally placed for exploring it all. My wife and I had a great three-night stay, and I'd recommend it. The location is fantastic, with everything we wanted to see within walking distance, right beside a tram stop and just a one-minute walk from the train station. Our Bijou suite room was nice but underwhelming. I was surprised and disappointed there was no safe or fridge, and there was no kettle in the room either, though reception could provide one.

The price was surprisingly affordable, and the rooms, breakfast, and cozy shared spaces were all good. There are lots of restaurants nearby, and it's a great location for Humboldt U. and the museums.
