PLAZA INN Berlin Charlottenburg

For a weekend in Berlin, it’s fine for the price. Our standard double room cost about €95 a night without breakfast. It was clean and okay, but the bathroom was really small. There’s no A/C, so it gets warm, though manageable. The view wasn’t much, even from the top floor, and housekeeping doesn’t come unless you ask.

The surroundings are lovely and peaceful, with good transport connections. Our room was small, but that didn’t bother us, and we slept well in the comfortable bed. There was nice natural light and airflow too. Breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly, so we’d stay again. For a sunny day outdoors, we recommend CapRivi, then Daniele restaurant after visiting Schloss Charlottenburg. It’s an easy walk.

The rooms are extremely small, and there was barely space to move in the bathroom. Having to hand in the room keys every time you leave was a hassle. At check-in the staff were rude and seemed annoyed when I asked to add parking to my reservation. The restaurant is way overpriced, though the young blonde server was probably the nicest person on staff. I’d spend a couple more dollars on a better hotel.

The internet in my fifth-floor room was among the worst I’ve had at a hotel: extremely slow and constantly disconnecting. There’s no AC, so the room can get too hot. The room itself was good and clean, and breakfast was acceptable.
