The people were very nice and helpful, but that wasn't enough to make this a good family stay. We paid 420€ for a family room for 3 nights, and I wouldn't advise families to book it. The room was tiny, with metal beds that hurt and weren't comfortable, plus small uncomfortable pillows. There was no TV, air conditioning, hairdryer, water glasses, carpet, or night-light, just one weak yellow light. The heating was off, yet the room was boiling, as if there were underfloor heating that couldn't be adjusted. It didn't feel family friendly at all.

I only moved in recently, and already sharing a 6-bed room with an alcoholic schizophrenic guy has been really disturbing. He keeps talking to the wall or to some imaginary friend that only he can see. With homelessness forcing me to stay here, I don't have much choice, but anyone looking for peace of mind should stay away. This place feels less like a hostel and more like a lunatic asylum, with all kinds of addicts, mentally ill people, and beggars, most of them apparently staying permanently.

The rooms weren't very clean, and the neighborhood felt a bit dodgy, even though the location is handy for going clubbing in Berlin. I liked the strong wifi in the room, the really comfortable bed, the plug for charging right beside it, and the large lockers for belongings. It's good value for money, and I wouldn't mind staying again if I had to.

My flight was delayed and landed in a different city, so I didn't reach Berlin until 6am. I'd emailed the hostel beforehand and explained the whole situation at reception, but they still wouldn't let me in because guests can't check in after 12pm. The receptionist showed no interest in understanding or finding a solution. He just offered a private room for 150 euro and left me to stay on the street, when I couldn't find anywhere else at that hour. That dismissive response felt disgusting and inhumane. I would never recommend supporting a place with that attitude.
