The Westin Grand Berlin

The rooms are nice and the place is classy enough, but avoid it if you need WiFi. That's the reason I chose the hotel, and it was useless. Neither the Westin network nor the open, unsecured mycloud network worked. YouTube wouldn't even load, and Zoom on a phone or tablet was out of the question. Calling for help was no better. I sat through a long hold and a 30-second recording before waiting with no response. It felt like they wanted callers to give up instead of helping with a basic amenity. Reception asked if I'd tried mycloud, but that didn't work either.

I stayed here in Feb 2026 and really liked it. The rooms are very spacious, and the central location means you can walk to all the tourist spots. I'd recommend it.

The location was fairly close to a lot of major attractions, and the hotel itself was clean and nice. The service felt more four-star than five-star, though. We asked for plates and utensils as well as a microwave, got conflicting answers about the microwave, and never received one. The plates and utensils took more than an hour to arrive. The spa and sauna cost 8 €, which felt ridiculous for a room attached to the gym with lounge chairs. There were three different saunas, which was good.

The reception and information desk staff were especially helpful. The hotel draws tourists, business guests, and a few people who seem to stop in just to take a photo on the sweeping staircase. It's in a great spot, with major attractions, restaurants, and bars all within walking distance. Rooms are clean and have plenty of room for clothes and cases, plus a fridge, safe, coffee machine, and kettle. I would've liked more English Breakfast tea bags. Breakfast has a good mix of continental and cooked options, and the small gym is well equipped. There's also a nice bar by reception, though it's pricier than the local bars. Hard to find fault.
