Comfort Hotel Bernau

The breakfast was good, and it’s close to the highway, but the room standards were poor. I booked a large bed and got two singles. I’d asked for a quiet room, but mine faced roadworks that started at 7 a.m. The bathroom needs a major makeover, and the room wasn’t very clean.

The rooms are quite spacious, but the furniture and bathroom feel very dated. It’s a basic hotel and reasonably clean, though I found dirty water in the sink, a clogged shower drain, and a pretty dirty kettle when I checked in. After I asked about the drain, they left a plunger outside my door the next day so I could deal with it myself. Maybe next time they’ll leave me a vacuum too, haha.

It’s an easy 10-15 minute walk to the center, and the train station is about 10 minutes away on foot or 3 minutes by car. The S2 gets to Brandenburger Tor in around 35 minutes. There’s plenty of free parking, a supermarket next door, an all-you-can-eat restaurant and a gas station across the street. The hotel has an old-school feel in a good way, with clean, cozy rooms that are bigger than you’d expect at this standard. The staff are lovely and helpful, breakfast has a good variety, and the beds are comfortable. Best of all, it’s quiet at night, so I woke up rested. Great value, I’d highly recommend it.

A really nice place to stay for as long as you need. The staff are friendly and polite. There are two grocery stores and two cafes nearby, plus a bus stop for the train station.
