ZaVélo Suite

We arrived on December 30th for an overnight stay around New Year's, to celebrate my birthday, and were very disappointed. Black mold covered much of the lower level, and the humidity was extremely high, which was especially unpleasant for allergy sufferers. It looked like someone had tried to treat the mold superficially, but the problem hadn't been solved. Plaster was crumbling off the kitchen walls too, with only a makeshift repair. The TV didn't work, though that wasn't a major issue, and the sauna instructions were poorly written. The warped sauna door jammed, so we had to lift it with considerable force to get in or out. On New Year's Eve, the power went out. We tried contacting someone several times before the owner got in touch. He said he couldn't reach an electrician that day, and seemed to know about the problem. Some parts of the house still had electricity, but the upstairs bedroom and wellness area, including the sauna and whirlpool, were unusable. No alternative was offered, and the owner seemed not to care. We left that evening so we could at least start the new year without mold and power problems. Booking.com arranged a partial refund of €100, which felt like a bad joke given the conditions. We also found a yellowing toilet seat and black hairs in the whirlpool. The accommodation looks good in pictures, but the reality was completely different. All show and no substance. We absolutely can't recommend it.

The apartment is small but perfectly formed, beautifully furnished, and in a super central location. It has nearly everything you might need, though there’s no bathroom storage. For three days, that’s manageable. It also gets very warm at night, so fly screens on the windows would be useful. There are lots of photos online, and they’re all genuine.

We had a wonderful two nights here. The apartment is just behind the market square. You enter through the kitchen, with its dining table, then go through to the wellness area, which has everything you need to relax. From the whirlpool, you can see the Christmas tree in the market square, which makes for a lovely atmosphere. Upstairs, there’s a beautiful bedroom full of character and a wonderfully soft bed.

Our children gave us this stay for our silver wedding anniversary, and it was perfect from the start. The suite was beautifully furnished and luxurious. Even with just two nights, we were able to really relax in our own whirlpool and sauna, and the weather was fantastic. It certainly won’t be our last visit.
