A pleasant, quiet historic hotel with a decent-sized room and everything you need. The bed was too soft for me, though, and I think the carpet should be replaced with a more hygienic synthetic floor. Breakfast was good. Dinner options at the restaurant were limited to just two dishes.

The rooms were really clean, and breakfast came with a lovely view over the pond and garden. I only wished they served good-quality freshly ground coffee in the morning. It would make a big difference at a nice hotel like this. The place is beautifully located and well maintained, and the customer service was excellent.

The vegan breakfast was the one letdown for us. I mentioned it when booking, but they still couldn't offer a nutritionally varied option. From the second morning onward there was vegan salami and cheese, but nothing else, so we brought our own food. That felt awkward, and it wasn't really the point of booking breakfast. With internet access, it should be easy to look into a few more choices. The hotel is in a lovely part of Germany, with Zittauer Gebirge nearby, so it's a good base for hiking or climbing. Some rooms are still being refurbished, and you can see signs of that here and there. In our room, it was just plastic boxes on the wall covering cables where lamps are planned. The style and materials suggest they're heading in the right direction, though of course that's a matter of taste.
