Hotel & Restaurant Pelikan

My partner and I both went for the cheeseburger with crunchy pommes, and they were delicious. I’d definitely recommend the restaurant.

We just wanted a quick meal, but nearly €42 felt like poor value. We ordered two schnitzels, one with fries, plus a Spezi and iced coffee. The iced coffee was good, as was the Spezi. The food was okay, but nothing special. The two portions called “large” were actually small, probably pork loin and therefore the cheapest option. The schnitzels seemed either deep-fried or not properly puffed up by the cook. They came with cress and tomato, and the cress had a sharp, radish-like flavor. The fries had been portioned out very precisely. The server also struck us as odd, very chummy, tattooed, in a tank top, with rather basic manners and extremely long, brightly colored nails. I repeated that impression because it really stuck with me. If I’d understood what was going on and listened to my son, we’d have left after the drinks. Her manner alone should have told me it wasn’t going to work out. We could have paid less at a fast-food chain like McDonald’s or McDonald’s, and the food would probably have been about the same, since you don’t expect much there either. Well, one more experience behind us.

At Restaurant Pelikan we were welcomed warmly and served promptly. The portions were generous and tasty. My husband chose the Tyrolean schnitzel, while I had the one with chanterelles, and we finished by treating ourselves to Danube wave cake. The price felt fair, so we’re happy to recommend the restaurant. Thank you!

We waited a full hour for soup and salad because the kitchen seemed completely overwhelmed. It would have helped to know about the delay in advance. The food itself was good, but the visit didn’t leave us wanting to come back. We sat outside in the sunshine, with every table in full sun and no shade. There were a few inexpensive umbrella bases with water tanks, but the umbrellas were kept inside. When we asked for one, the request wasn’t received well. We were told they were useless or might blow away and endanger cyclists. They really need a few professional-grade umbrellas.
