Hotel Leicht

The food is excellent and the portions are decent. The hotel is clean, with a fresh, well-kept single room and excellent service. Staff are clear, friendly, and helpful. There's no air conditioning or fan, so the room can get warm on sunny, hot days. The nearby church bell rings every 15 minutes and on the hour, which isn't great if you're a light sleeper. Since it's close to the highway, I think it's a good place to stop mid-trip for a meal, drinks, and a good night's sleep.

The kitchen is excellent, the rooms are comfortable, and the staff are awesome and friendly. A very welcoming hidden gem.

The village setting has its downsides: the air outside often smells of manure, and the church bell rings every half-hour, which is bothersome if you want to sleep with the window open. Inside, the small rooms aren't very modern, though they're comfortable overall, and there's no AC. Each day there's an apple and knife in a bowl on the coffee table, plus a Bible on the nightstand, ugh. Breakfast is pretty good, especially the specialty dish with shredded apples that's worth trying. The hotel looks wonderful, and the waitresses wear cute German folk outfits.

The staff are really nice and helpful. It's definitely an older hotel, though it looks quite pleasing. It may not suit younger guests unless they're just looking for a getaway and are fine with the basics, including WiFi and a nice-sized TV. In most rooms, two beds are pushed together to make something like a king-sized bed. The bathroom is nothing special, but it's fairly spacious and warmer than the rest of the room. I couldn't get the room warm, even after fiddling with the heater by the window. Breakfast is free and decent, but there's not a huge selection.
