Steigenberger Hotel Bielefelder Hof

Breakfast was a highlight for me. It starts at 6:30, has plenty of options, and tastes good. The hotel is right across from the train station, with the metro just behind it, and my room was spacious and clean. The water took 3-5 minutes of running before it got hot, which wastes a lot of water. There was also no heating in the bathroom floor, so it felt very cold.

The atmosphere was relaxed, and breakfast was very good, with selected regional products. Rooms are nice and large, and the staff were very friendly. There's a small bar and restaurant where the staff offered friendly advice on food and wine, though the selection could be larger. It's right in front of Bielefeld's notoriously ugly central station. They even have an indoor smoking terrace. Smoking outside the hotel could lead to unwanted encounters, though things around here are usually very calm.

Service was very good, and otherwise the hotel was really excellent, right up to the usual Steigenberger standards. I wanted to mention two little things that seem out of place in a high-end hotel. My room had no hooks anywhere, so I couldn't hang a coat, hat, bag, or even the nice robes. I left them on chairs and leaned my bags against a bench. There were also no USB ports by the bed, so I couldn't keep my laptop plugged in at the desk and my phone by the bed at the same time. I had to choose. They're small issues, but a much cheaper hotel I stayed at in the Czech Republic had both, so I thought they were worth mentioning.

My husband stays here often for work and has always had pleasant experiences. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the hotel is right by Bielefeld Central Station. Staff are friendly and very focused on customer service. There's laundry service, a restaurant on-site, and a good breakfast with local products. It seems like a great option for business trips or tourism. A special thanks to Ynnick at the front desk, and I hope I've spelled your name right. I called and asked for a written anniversary message to be delivered to my husband. Ynnick went above and beyond: my husband was pleasantly surprised to find the heartfelt note and flower petals in his room. They also prepared a special dinner for him in the hotel restaurant.
