The only small snag for us was that the Wi-Fi could be unreliable, though it probably won’t matter to most people. Everything else made it easy to settle in and relax: comfortable beds, well-equipped bathrooms, a lovely pool, and a property that’s very well kept. It’s quiet, the hosts are really friendly, and they even offer morning bread rolls for a delicious holiday breakfast. There are plenty of interesting places to visit within a 30-minute drive.

The owners were so friendly and accommodating, and the complimentary bread delivery was a lovely touch. The place is quiet and conveniently close to Bergen and the lake. Inside, everything was spotless and well maintained, with a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and a modern bathroom with a whirlpool tub, big shower, towels, and shower gel. In summer there are loungers and parasols by the large clean pool, plus a barbecue and fire pit in the garden. Come autumn, you can settle by the fireplace or unwind in the sauna. The apartment is furnished with lots of care. We’ll definitely come back.

We stayed in the “Polarstern” apartment in September. The booking and communication beforehand were excellent, and I’d asked in advance whether we could do laundry there. On arrival, the wife of the house said in front of her husband that he’d show us the washing machine later, since it was in another building. When I asked about it around midday, I was told to go over there myself and that I surely knew how to do laundry, unless he needed to explain it to me. On our second day we mentioned a loose table leg and a shower head that wasn’t attached properly. We were handed a toolbox and told to fix them ourselves. This seemed to happen quite often. There were also lots of cobwebs and daddy longlegs, an old tissue between the mattresses under the bedsheet, and a used, moldy coffee filter left in the coffee maker. The freezer compartment was completely iced over and wouldn’t shut, the toilet paper holder had come off the wall, and the stair gate didn’t always close fully. The garden equipment worried us, since we were there with children aged 2 and 4. One support on the metal swing set was completely broken, leaving it very wobbly. The single plastic swing was broken too, and someone had screwed a thick wooden board onto it from underneath, at an angle. We were afraid the whole thing might tip over, or the kids might get a screw in their bottoms while swinging. The pool also had no barrier at all, which we hadn’t realized from the photos. We won’t stay here again.

We had a large balcony and could use both the garden pool and barbecue area. Our spacious Abendrot apartment had a whirlpool tub and rain shower, as well as a second en-suite bathroom. The hosts were friendly and even helped with swimming lessons, thank you so much! From booking and payment through arrival, the stay, and departure, everything went perfectly.
