Hotel Krone

The building is clean and rustic, with basic rooms and amenities. The owner gave us check-in and key instructions over the phone. There’s parking near the hotel, and the next ferry to Rüdesheim is 1 km away. We could have used clearer directions to the rooms. Breakfast was standard and fresh, while the coffee and sunny side up were excellent.

The hotel’s in a beautiful spot by the river, but there are some real downsides. There’s no lobby, and with no elevator and rooms on the upper floors, you have to carry heavy luggage up by hand. Those things would have been okay, but the rudeness toward guests was absolutely unacceptable. The lady was extremely unpleasant, with negative energy the whole time. I felt like the only time she’d smile would be when she was taking me to the electric chair.

The room was spacious and clean, and I only stayed one night, so I have no complaints about it. What made this stay memorable was a kind couple I met after missing my train (thanks DB). At 11 pm, they called a couple of hotels, compared prices, and suggested this one, even though I was a complete stranger. If everyone in town is half as nice as they were, it must be an amazing place.

Loved the location, about a 10 minute walk from the bahnof and right beside the tourist information station. The rooms were great and spacious, with a unique layout: an open bathroom and a separate toilet bowl. There’s also a portable table to use, and breakfast is included. Loved it!
