Hotel Siebenstern

We’re already looking forward to coming back to Gasthof Siebenstern. The dining room is genuinely cozy, and the prices were reasonable. Even though the kitchen was officially closed, we were welcomed warmly and got excellent service. The roast pork, schnitzel, and pancakes were all freshly made, arrived quickly, and tasted delicious.

The owner is there every day, handles many things herself, and is always in a good mood. This is a family-run place with heart, set amid lovely scenery with views of the Ochsenkopf mountain. The air really does feel clean, and the town is walkable. You can park right in front of the hotel, and dogs are welcome, even in the breakfast room. Breakfast is generous, with coffee, tea, juice, cereal, yogurt, cheese, sausage, eggs, fresh rolls, pastries, and fruit. There’s also a self-service fridge with a checklist. Rooms are vacuumed and cleaned daily. There’s no decoration, but it’s a simple, pleasant place for a holiday. We’d love to come back.

Everything at breakfast, from the coffee and milk to the butter and jam, is served at the table in disposable packaging. It’s quick for the hotel, but creates a lot of waste.

You can walk to the village in just a few minutes, and the hotel has a fantastic view of the ski slope. The rooms are basic and a little dated. I even found a tube of men’s hand cream behind the bedside table, though I’m a woman. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty, but ask if you want an egg. A buzzing sound bothered us, and unfortunately we couldn’t work out where it came from.
