BIG Reisehotel Wolfen

The shower was good and hot, and the bathroom was small but practical. The rooms are simple and fairly clean, though the blanket was stiff and didn't keep me very warm in winter. I was kept awake by the sound of water running from a leak in my toilet cistern. Breakfast was basic, with some stale bread mixed in with the fresh. It's an old military housing block that's been turned into a hotel. There's no restaurant, but breakfast is served. It's cheap, but I won't return.

The sheets and bedding were so filthy they glowed under UV light. The room floor was sticky, with lots of dead bugs and rubbish, and it seemed like the place had never been cleaned. Nobody who cares about their dignity should stay in this godforsaken place. It ought to be shut down immediately.

We were driving along the A9 with my wife and decided around 18:00 to find somewhere to stay. There weren't any hotels on the autobahn, so we searched on our TOM TOM and picked the first place with "HOTEL" in its name, about 10 km away. You leave the A9 and follow a long, lonely road to a quiet village well away from the autobahn. The building is tall, with plenty of parking. Inside, there's a large lobby, and a friendly woman who spoke English explained everything. There's a restaurant next door, and an elevator goes up to the fifth floor. Our room was nicely laid out, very clean, and had a modular bathroom with hot water. WiFi cost an extra EU2.00 but worked well. Breakfast in the cellar the next morning was very good. The room was hot despite the mild weather, and the bed was bumpy and uneven. The TV was small, though reception was good. Reasonable value for the money.

The toilets had no toilet paper, and the rooms hadn't been cleaned, with rubbish left on the floor. This place is the worst and shouldn't be called a hotel. It's not a decent place for people, and maybe even dogs wouldn't want to stay here. I'd rather sleep in a rubbish bin.
